Woman's tragic phone call to Las Vegas victim's girlfriend as he died in her arms

A woman has spoken about how a Las Vegas victim died in her arms as she made desperate phone calls to find his girlfriend.

Heather Gooze was bartending at the Route 91 Harvest music festival when retired accountant Stephen Paddock, 64, open-fired on the crowd, killing at least 58 people.

Ms Gooze said she saw thousands of people running through the bar and "couldn't understand why" they were climbing over each other to try and escape out the back until she heard the shots.

“We had so many injured people and they couldn’t get out," she told People.

Instead of fleeing, the 43-year-old stayed behind to help the victims and said a lot of people in her bar had tragically died.

Jordan McIldoon was one of those seriously injured in the shooting and Ms Gooze said she applied pressure to his gun shot wound.

"There was blood everywhere," she said.

As she helped Mr McIldoon, his phone rang and Ms Gooze answered to try and find out how to contact his loved ones.

She managed to speak to his mother who told the bartender her son, from British Colombia, was in Las Vegas with his girlfriend.

But as Ms Gooze desperately tried to call his girlfriend, Mr McIIdoon died in her arms.

She then had to tell his girlfriend Amber, who was in lockdown at a nearby hotel, he had died.

Ms Gooze then spent four hours with his body until Amber arrived.

“I wouldn’t leave him or go anywhere until I could make sure that they knew where he was and what was going on,” she said.
