Can you tell what’s really going on with this store’s floor?

Is it the carpet that’s warped? Or is it our perception?

You would have to forgive anyone who crossed this floor with cautious little steps.

But despite the appearance it is littered with apparent pitfalls at every turn, the rug is actually on the level.

Believed to be the flooring at French electronics shop chain FNAC, the optical illusion carpet had been resting on the ground for some time until it was encountered by Australian YouTuber Muselk online.

“Whoever designed this floor is evil. THAT’S A FLAT CARPET,” he tweeted to his 224,000 followers.

The Twitter account WHS_Carpet, which shares images of carpet at WHSmith branches’ carpet and other oddities from around the UK, first shared the image on a few days earlier, but it did not catch on until Muselk re-shared it.

Many suggested the carpet would go great in a pub where intoxicated patrons might find buying a round to be quite a challenge.

Others, however, suggested the challenge might be all too real for people who live with mental health conditions like dementia and epilepsy.
