Husband listened to wife being stabbed to death over the phone
A man has spoken of the horrific moment he listened over the phone to his wife being stabbed to death by a home intruder.
In September 2015, Daniel Cross, 40, was on a business trip 300 kilometres away when he received a phone call from his wife Nikki from their home in Hertfordshire, southern England, to say a man had broken in.
While he called the police on the hotel phone, Mr Cross then heard his wife pleading for her life and "trying to calm the man down," the Mirror reported.
"After that I heard her screaming and pleading for her life. And then it went silent," he said.
The couple's two children, aged five and three, were home at the time and tried to wake their mother up after the horrific stabbing.

A court later heard the home intruder, Marcin Porczynski, 25, was a paranoid schizophrenic and had heard voices telling him to kidnap the Cross's children.
Porczynski pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility and was detained indefinitely at a hospital.
He was still on the property when police arrived after the stabbing.
Mr Cross said he reached "rock bottom" six months after his wife's death and only kept going because of his children.
"I never wanted to commit suicide but I did want to go to sleep and wake up many years later when all the pain was gone away," he said.
After his wife's death, Mr Cross started a fundraiser, the Nikki Cross Memorial Cup.
