Maddie McCann former detective accuses ex-PM Gordon Brown and MI5 of cover-up
A former Portugese detective has made astonishing claims that M15 helped cover up the death of missing three-year-old Madeleine McCann.
Portuguese former police chief Goncalo Amaral, who initially led the McCann investigation, alleged that British secret agents had an involvement following the disappearance of the child.
Former detective Amaral, 56, has also gone on to claim that the ‘cover-up’ went as high up as the British PM at the time, stating that Gordon Brown was also involved in the case that continues to captivate the world.
Mr Amaral worked on the case when Maddie mysteriously disappeared from her holiday apartment in Praia da Luz.
On May 3, 2007, her parents were dining with friends at the time the child vanished from her bed.
The former top cop resigned merely six months after being removed from the high-profile case.
He then wrote a book using police files, alleging that Maddie had died in the apartment.
He has however not yet produced evidence to support his claims against the former PM or the British security services.
Gerry and Kate McCann have also repeatedly dismissed his claims.

Speaking about Mr Amaral’s latest theories, Gerry McCann said: “The less said about Goncalo Amaral the better.”
Despite Portuguese authorities conducting their largest ever police search the child’s disappearance is arguably the world’s most baffling, still garnering media attention 10 years on.
British detectives who conducted their own investigation in 2013 discovered that Madeleine’s case might not have been an isolated incident.
For 10 years Gerry and Kate McCann have returned to Portugal, the last place they saw their daughter before she vanished.
“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare,” Kate told Sunday Night during a recent interview.
On May 12 this year, Madeleine would be 14 years old.
Over the years, the case has continued to captivate the public, with 8685 sightings of Madeleine reported across 101 countries.
Kate and Gerry have vowed to never stop looking for their daughter.
