'Miracle baby': Woman gives birth hours after fiance killed in crash

A woman looking forward to having her first baby has had her world turned upside down after a horrific truck crash that killed her fiancé.

Stephanie Teixeira was 39 weeks pregnant when the B-double truck her and fiancé Kevin Porker were travelling in near Geelong jack-knifed.

Mr Porker, who was driving, was killed in the crash while Ms Teixeira miraculously crawled to saftey.

Hours later Ms Teixeira gave birth to a baby boy, the son her fiancé had been longing for.

"This was supposed to be the three of us coming back together, starting our lives together as parents,” Ms Teixeira told 7 News.

The pair were driving in the early hours of the morning on April 6 on a notorious stretch of road in Victoria when their dreams came to a tragic end.

Ms Teixeira is now alone and left to raise her newborn son, Kayson without his father, Kevin.

"We were following Google Maps and we turned on to a road that was very steep. It was a scary ride, it was like a nightmare, you can't get off of it and you can't stop,” she said of their horrific crash.

Ms Teixeira was in the cabin of the truck to keep Kevin company when a wrong turn, now means father and son will never meet.

The B-double the pair were travelling in flipped, killing Kevin instantly.

Stephanie then managed to crawl out of the mangled wreckage.

"I was trying to call out to him, it was just silence,” she recalled.

Dazed and confused the soon-to-be mother then climbed barefoot up an embankment.

"To get help for him, because obviously I was okay, I was walking around, it was just help for him,” she said.

Scared for her the life of her unborn baby, shock and grief stricken Stephanie knew it was all too late.

"I'd already checked to see his pulse. In that moment though you just want to get help because you just want someone to save him,” she continued.

Ms Teixeira was then flown to the Royal Women's hospital in Melbourne where their baby boy entered the world.

It was all the pair had ever wanted, a healthy son.

"We didn't know what we were having, he was very adamant about having a surprise,” the proud mother said.
