‘Absolute ratbags’: Teen girl left trapped after horror crash in stolen sports car

Three men are on the run after a frightened and injured teenage girl was left unconscious and trapped, following a dramatic car crash on the northern beaches of Sydney.

It appears the men acted like cowards after the crash and bolted leaving one of their girlfriends behind.

One man even wrestled with a homeowner who rushed to rescue her.

The stolen sports car is now crumpled, covered in dirt and filled with empty bottles.

The vehicle ended up in the front yard of Jo and Richard Moules.

Inside the vehicle were three men in their 20s and in the backseat a 16-year-old girl was trapped, bleeding and badly injured.

“She was totally out of it in the back, you know unconscious. And he was just pulling her,” Richard told 7 News.

"I pushed him away and he said 'I've got to get her out',” Richard said of the confrontation.

When they couldn't move her, the men fled the scene.

The teenage girl was treated on the scene, then taken to hospital with a broken leg and nose.

Police then launched a manhunt for the others.

"We are now looking for three males that are outstanding that were seen running from the vehicle,” Acting Inspector Vanessa Robinson told 7 News.

"Absolute ratbags. I mean right, something bad has happened but you don't leave your girlfriend, so called, just there. She was frightened,” Jo said of the cowardly act.

Neighbours say this stretch of road has had problems in the past.

"People have wiped that rockery out before and cars have been wiped out who parked there," one resident said.

At this stage it appears the car was traveling at speed, lost control and became airborne, the neighbours garden bed acting as a launch pad, somehow missing the house and the room where Jo and Richard were asleep.

“It was only a metre or so away from the bedroom,” Richard said.

The difficulty now is just how to get the vehicle out of their yard.

“It's going to be a lot of fun, yeah. That's the next thing," the couple concluded.
