'I fell into a blackhole': Melbourne porn star says world fell apart after trying ice

A Melbourne man has told of how his life spiralled out of control after a snap decision to try the drug ice.

Skippy Baxter, a Victorian porn star and bodybuilder, said his world fell apart when he decided to try crystal methamphetamine about two years ago at a party.

Speaking with Star Observer he said he knew nothing about the drug when he was first introduced to it.

He initially knocked back an offer to try it but said things took a turn for the worse when he was convinced.

“They talked me into it, they said: if you don’t like it, you don’t ever have to do it again,” he said.

“It’s just a once off thing… just see if you like it.”

He described the first time as an “incredible feeling” and “the best experience” he had.

However the following day he experienced a “horrific” comedown and made a promise to himself not to touch it again.

Despite this, pressure from friends constantly getting high led to his own personal battle with ice.

He said he used it to help him during sexual encounters and quickly became addicted to the drug.

Before long, he said he was using ice every day “to escape”.

“It was more on an escaping every day life and I needed to function really so that’s when I knew I had a problem,” he said.

“I kind of fell into a black hole and didn’t know how to get out of it…I lost a lot of weight, started to get paranoid, push everyone aside.”

Baxter said he considered taking his own life at his lowest point, struggling to cope with the burden of feeling depressed.

He said about four months ago his parents helped him by contacting a rehabilitation facility and pushing him to get on the road to recovery.

“My parents got in contact with a rehab place called Bradshaw House in Victoria… she rang me one day. It was probably the best phone call I ever got,” he said.

“I didn’t know how to get out of it so she pulled me out of the hole.”

He admitted he had struggled with a relapse however he was back on the road to recovery.

“I never thought I would relapse…I thought once I got to rehab and sorted my personal stuff out… I would be able to push forward and resist. But life happens and I found my way back into that circle, which I’m now not a part of anymore,” he said.
