Tears of joy: Young boy buys pony with pocket money saved from his lemonade stand
Here’s proof that with hard work you really can turn lemons into sweet, sweet lemonade and then some.
A young Queensland boy has been reduced to tears when his parents surprised him with his very own pony after he worked hard for two years running his own lemonade stand.
At the tender age of five, Sabastian Lucas first set-up a cardboard stand, complete with colourful paper cups and straws and began serving locals in the area his trademark lemonade.
By age of seven Sabastian had worked tirelessly and saved diligently making and frequently selling out of his lemonade that quickly became a hit with the residents of Scarborough, north of Brisbane.
During those two years Sabastian’s goal was to save enough money to someday buy a pony of his own.
“We cut the lemons, squeeze it in, then we cook the syrup and add sugar,” he told News Corp.
This week Sabastian’s dream came true when his parents surprised him with his very own pony and the heartwarming moment was captured on video of the pairs first meeting.
His mother, Juliana said her son's reaction is overwhelming and emotional to watch.
“I don't think there is a better feeling than your child's raw emotion,” she says on the touching footage.
“How do you put a price on that?”
At the beginning of the footage Sabastian can be seen running excitedly towards the horse stables in anticipation.
“He’s crying, he’s gone,” Juliana can also be heard saying on the tape.
Then soon after he can be seen on the footage running back towards his parents sobbing tears of joy and disbelief upon seeing his pony for the first time.
His father picks the seven-year-old up as the sobbing continues.
“It’s awesome,” he can be heard saying through his tears while rubbing his eyes.
“Thank you Mum and Dad,” he be heard saying to the camera before the tape ends.
He will share the joy and the duties of taking care of Tom with little brother Canterbury reports News Corp.
“Tom, his Welsh mountain pony, is what they call a schoolmaster a pony that will teach its rider the tricks of trade safely,” his mother told News Corp.
“He has worked so hard and never stopped dreaming. Not a bad achievement from a five-year-old, now just turned seven.”
Sabasitan Lucas is living proof that hard work and dedication pay off and that do dreams can come true.
