The City of Melbourne this week announced 30 finalists for the prestigious Melbourne Awards, including The Arts Centre, Crown Melbourne, Zoos Victoria, White Night, Melbourne Museum, The Big Issue, Movember Foundation, and The Water Well Project.

Now in its 14th year, the awards aim to highlight the achievements that inspire and challenge others to create a better future for the city, according to the City of Melbourne.

The Awards honour significant contributions to Melbourne’s environmental sustainability, community, profile, and multiculturalism. Subcategories recognise corporations and community organisations within their respective fields, resulting in a total of eight award categories.

An inspirational individual will also be honoured as the ‘Melburnian of the Year’.

City of Melbourne Chief Executive Officer Martin Cutter said this year’s finalists embodied the "true spirit" of the world's most liveable city.

"Our finalists vary in their areas of focus and expertise but they are all exemplary in their commitment to Melbourne,” he said.

A gala event will be held at the Melbourne Town Hall on Saturday 12 November, where the winners from each category, along with the 2016 Melburnian of the Year, will be announced.
