Video shows violent fight between Melbourne schoolgirls as jeering crowd looks on
Footage has emerged of a vicious fight between at least three teenage girls in a Melbourne schoolyard.
The video, which was posted to Facebook on Tuesday, led to a 14-year-old girl in the vision being ‘fat shamed’, the Daily Mail reported.
The yelps and cheers of bystanders can be heard as a brunette girl and a blonde-haired girl are seen in a stand-off, before they begin fighting and a third girl rushes in.
They fall to the ground, as one girl violently batters the blonde around the head, while holding a firm grip of her hair.
Shouts of “get her” can be heard from female by-standers, while young men jeer and laugh.
A number of young women then intervene to try to pull the girls apart, but glimpses of a second fight can be seen breaking out nearby.
The clip, recorded at Cranbourne Secondary College, had reportedly been viewed more than 24,000 times in under a day, with many people commenting.
The Daily Mail reported there were several posts about one of the girls’ weight.
'Hear the fat chick come running in!!! I thought bombs were hitting the school!! Then u see her fat a** run past,' it reported one man writing.
Male students who claimed to be featured in the clip reportedly commenting taking pride in their involvement in the incident.
The school’s principal told the Daily Mail the behaviour captured in the footage was “totally unacceptable” and “appropriate disciplinary action is being taken against the students who were involved”.
