Footage claims to capture 'ghost' rising from rubble of World Trade Center days after 9/11

Puzzling video has emerged showing a white figure rising from the rubble of the World Trade Center days after the September 11 tragedy in 2001.

The footage shows a strange floating figure rise up from behind the buildings and ‘fly’ off.

The camera pans the scene of the wreckage when a smoke-like object shoots off behind the building and a group of workmen come into the frame.

Some claim it’s a ghost, however the figure has remained a mystery.

Last year one of the NYPD officers on scene said he saw a ghost ‘trying to help’ while he searched for clues to identify victims from the attacks.

Sergeant Frank Marra claimed he saw a ghost of an African American woman, who was dressed in white as a Red Cross worker.

In his book, From Landfill to Hallowed Ground, Sgt Marra detailed his sighting as he searched through remains from September 2001 to February 2002.

He reported seeing a ghost-like woman while going through rubble at the Staten Island landfill.

He said he saw the ‘ghost’ a few times and that ‘she’ was holding a tray of sandwiches, always standing more than 50m away before vanishing.

“I thought she was trying to help us, being first responders. You could clearly see it was a person."”

Sgt Marra said he had put the sightings back in his mind until a year later, when he spoke to a crime-scene detective who also mentioned the ghost.

He was asked if he ever heard stories about the ‘old Red Cross worker trying to serve sandwiches’.

“It hit my like a ton of bricks – I had put that dormant,” he told the New York Post.

“It just reminded me that I remembered seeing her.”

Sgt Marra wasn’t the only one who reported the spectre.

Along with the Red Cross worker, other police and landfill volunteers witnessed reported seeing other things, from shadows to large black masses, he said.

A medium later explained it might have been a spirit or a ‘soul collector’ guiding people to the afterlife.

Landfill volunteers found 54,000 personal objects in the World Trade Center wreckage and identified more than 1200 people who were killed in the attacks.
