Shopkeeper fights back against thieves with homemade flame-thrower

A shopkeeper used a homemade flame-thrower to ward off a pair of thieves who stormed his shop near Capalaba in an early morning attack.

Two men armed with shotguns the pair tried to hold up the Alexandra Hills IGA at 6.30am on Saturday.

Store owner Dan Rigney decided to do something.

He used fly spray and a cigarette lighter to fight back and drive the men out of his store.

He then fled to a nearby store before the thieves raided the till.

Queensland Police are still searching for the culprits.
