Women 'offered cash to keep quiet' as they take legal action against Cosmetic Institute

More than 60 women are now being interviewed by lawyers for a class action against a cosmetic surgery clinic they claim left them physically and emotionally scarred.

Several women who have already talked to 7 News have been contacted by the Cosmetic Institute and offered cash to keep quiet.

The Cosmetic Institute is the nation's largest provider of breast augmentations.

After getting hers, Samone Nagle was taken to hospital with blood clots.

She told 7 News: "I thought I was going to die and the only response I've had from them is to massage my breasts and everything will be okay."

Since our first report on The Cosmetic Institute two months ago, more than 60 women have come forward some with mis-shapen implants, some the wrong size, mismatching, others with serious post-operative infections and scarring.

All claiming they were mistreated and largely ignored.

Melbourne woman Sarah Jarmenko was left with her implant migrating into her armpit.

Ms Jarmenko said: "I'll need to be completely reconstructed from the inside, I'm looking at nerve damage, ligament damage, TCI have completely ruined by body."

Sarah was offered a refund of $6,000 if she'd sign a contract to keep quiet.

Now we've learnt other women are being offered refunds and revision surgery if they too stop talking.

Koebii Daley said: "They kept telling me it was going to drop, then six months late I woke up with my boob practically on my shoulder."

TCI again refused to be interviewed.

They say they've performed 16,00 successful procedures, with a revision rate of less than 2 per cent and say claims of multiple, unhappy clients are being peddled solely by us and a legal firm.

The lawyer investigating a class action believes there are many more unhappy clients out there.

Sally Gleeson, from Turner Freeman Lawyers, told 7 News: "This is an issue that we'll be taking very seriously, we'll be investigating the matters vigorously and we're hoping that we'll get a positive response from TCI because that's the sort of response that these women deserve."
