New vision of alleged police bashing on the Gold Coast

Disturbing video has emerged of the moments leading up to an alleged police bashing on the Gold Coast.

Vision leaked by the Courier Mail last week appears to show Ray Currier, 50, being punched in the head and knocked unconscious outside a nightclub in Surfers Paradise in January.

The latest vision shows a different angle of the incident, taken from the balcony of a Gold Coast high-rise.

It appears to show Mr Currier trying to move his friends on after one of their party was arrested.

The grandfather can be seen drawing his friends away when he is approached by an officer and allegedly punched several times in the head and stomach.

One of the officers can then be seen grabbing Mr Currier by the throat and pushing him to the ground.

Four other officers then appear to climb on top of Mr Currier and hold him down while he is handcuffed.

The incident is being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command.

It’s the third case of alleged police misconduct to come to light on the Gold Coast in the past two weeks.

Yesterday, shocking video emerged of 21-year-old Brayden Aaron Mechen allegedly being punched in the face during a violent arrest on the Gold Coast in September, 2014.

Queensland Police said in a statement that the officer involved has since resigned and that the matter would be referred to the Ethical Standards Command if he is found to have committed any offence.

All charges against Mr Mechen have been dropped.
