Hungry for love? 'Cannibal cop' signs up to dating site

A disgraced cop who was convicted of plotting to kidnap, cook and eat his wife is out of jail and hungry for love.

Gilberto Valle, now 30, has supposedly signed up to online dating site, Match.com, seeking the perfect recipe for romance - a girl with similar taste who shares his life's loves.

In his dating profile, he lists (gulp) cooking as one of his favourite interests, as well as dining out and wine tasting - seemingly simple hobbies but not if you're a man with cannibalistic tendencies.

Valle was found guilty of conspiring to cook and eat his now-ex wife, but was released last year after a judge overturned his conviction, dismissing his kill plan as a fantasy.

According to the ad, placed under the handle of 'Amicable One14', the former NYPD officer is looking for a 'non-judgmental' woman who's a 'little kinky'.

He describes himself as a big foodie, who drinks 'an abnormal amount of coffee'. He enjoys 'a cross-country drive along with other travelling, seeing Jerry Seinfeld do stand-up, and going to a live Hell's Kitchen dinner service'.

In return, he lists the qualities of an ideal date.

"You're non-judgmental. You can generally see the good in people and you are kind and generous...You appreciate and laugh at bad jokes."

The description goes on: "You appreciate the simple things and can make the best out of a situation that is less than ideal," failing to mention he is under supervised release and has a legally enforced curfew.

A couch and movie night - at least it's a cheap date - that's if you can over look the fact he was plotting to murder.

Valle reveals he is divorced with a child yet avoids serving up information on his conviction.

However, the genuity of the ad has been questioned.

When a reporter from the NY Post approached the bachelor to discuss his love endeavours, Valle seemed bemused, claiming not to know what the hack was talking about.

"A what? A dating profile? No,I'm sorry. I don't know anything about it," he said, before refusing to be drawn into further questioning and scurrying inside his home.

The dating profile has since been removed.
