Shane Woewodin denies doping involvement

One of the Queensland identities entangled in the sports doping web has spoken exclusively with Seven News to clear his name.

Shane Woewodin is a celebrated athlete and now assistant coach to the Lions.

But because of his connection to biochemist Shane Charter – also a convicted drug trafficker and now a key player in the doping scandal - he is the latest name to be caught in the drug doping web.

In his Brownlow Medal acceptance speech in 2000, Woewodin thanked Charter for his dietary advice.

“Last of all to Shane Charter who's helped me along with my... um diet and everything this year and.. just been great for me,” Woewodin said.

But Woewodin says he is shocked by the allegations surrounding Charter and claims he was only ever given nutritional advice by Charter.

He says he is disappointed he's been caught up in the controversy and wants those involved to be publicly named.

"Let's just get it out on the table get it out and lets get on with footy season."
