WATCH: Man catches fish with bare hands in his living room after Hurricane Harvey

A man in Houston was filmed catching a fish with his bare hands after it swam into his living room in floodwaters.

After Hurricane Harvey brought more than a metre of rain to parts of Texas in a single day, water levels in Houston have risen at an alarming rate.

The National Weather Service reports water levels reaching 1.27 metres in some parts of the state, which explains why a fish found itself on a trip through the unusual environment.

With their home already swamped by a foot of water, the Houstonians found some sport in cornering the fish as it swam about their living room.

One man corralled the fish before pouncing on it, ripping it from the murky waters that covered the floor of his home.

The indoor fishing is some light relief for the Texans who have seen their city submerged in flooding rains.

The storm has claimed two lives so far and the damage bill is expected to exceed that of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
