Shoot out in Sydney: Tyres blown out

A dramatic police chase ended with a man being dragged from his car and hauled away in handcuffs.

Police have confirmed the driver, a 33-year-old man is wanted for questioning in relation to the stabbing of a woman in the city’s southeast. She remains in a serious but stable condition.

The incident started about 7.30am when police responded to reports of a domestic incident in Kensington, police confirmed.

The hour long chase span a the length of the M5, M7 and the M2 roads with the driver evading spikes and road blocks, which ultimately ended in Sydney city center when he was stopped and arrested.

Earlier witness reports that guns hots were fired but this has been denied by police.

Pictures of the car with flat tyres and a damaged windscreen of the white BMW surfaced on social media.

Kathy Kiernan told The Sydney Morning Herald she was on her way to a wedding, when she saw the BMW being pursued by police.

"A police car went past us at high speed about 15 kilometers before the bridge not long after the start of the M2 then a white BMW screamed past us followed by at lest eight police cars. Then we were held up on the bridge," Ms Kiernan said.
