Quinnie shaping for comeback
Im Themightyquinn has been given the all-clear to resume fast work at Serpentine tomorrow and he is on target to make a return to the track next month.
The $4.3 million stake-earner sustained a hairline fracture to a cannon bone last October.
"I haven't been able to fault him in several weeks of jogging," trainer Gary Hall said.
"All looks good for Quinnie's training to be stepped up to a fast pace at Wednesday's trackwork.
"His soundness is constantly monitored and no risks will be taken. But we're confident he'll race again in just over a month."
Im Themightyquinn was in training for the $650,000 New Zealand Cup (3200m) on November 12 when he went lame.
He also missed Sydney's $750,000 Miracle Mile (1609m) and $750,000 Inter Dominion Championship (3009m), and Perth's summer carnival.
As well as his three Inters triumphs, the gelding has won two Auckland Cups, three WA Pacing Cups and three Fremantle Cups.
Meanwhile, Hall will bring former top interstate youngster Soho Valencia back to racing in Friday night's Four and Five-Year-Old Championship (2130m) at Gloucester Park.
The bay won 18 races in Victoria, NSW and Queensland before joining Hall's stable in 2012.
Soho Valencia, a $300,000 prize money earner, was found to have knee bone chips after a 13m win when making his WA debut in the Golden Nugget Prelude (2100m).
"He underwent arthroscopic surgery on the off-fore knee," Hall said. "Soho Valencia has been completely sound in 12 weeks' work. I think he'll be slightly underdone first-up, but he could win on class."
