Top 10 things to do this week

It's heating up on run to Christmas, and your diary's bound to be stuffed full of entertainment, parties and shopping. Or is it?

If you've got a few minutes to spare, here are our Top 10 things to do. When you've read them, tell us what yours are.

1. Sanctuary party


Sanctuary Golf Resort is hosting the Big Office Xmas Party on Friday from 1pm. For just $55 people can enjoy a Christmas luncheon buffet and entertainment by Jonny Taylor. Bookings are essential, to RSVP contact the Resort on 9724 0286.

2. Carols service


Sing your heart out to some uplifting Christmas carols at St Boniface Cathedral, at the corner of Cross and Parkfield streets. The carols service begins at 7pm on Friday night. Everyone is welcome to attend, so get down to the Cathedral, sing some of your favourite carols and get into the spirit of Christmas.

3. Side splitting


On Saturday have your sides split as the dirty ditty singing Kevin Bloody Wilson returns to Bunbury. The veteran comedian will perform at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre from 8pm. For more information contact BREC on 1300 661 272.

4. Christmas party


Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industries is hosting its annual Christmas party on Friday. Come along to Chamber House on Stirling Street to have a great night of socialising with some of Bunbury’s finest businessmen and women. 5. Bands galore


The Prince of Wales Hotel will host two top Australian acts this week. An ARIA award nominee for best female artist, Abbe May returns to her home-town for a show at the Prince on Thursday. See her before she takes some time off “to explore her creativity”. And on Saturday night, see San Cisco. The globe-trotting WA three-piece have played iconic festivals, sold out headline shows and supported big name acts in 2013.

6. Day at the races


Bunbury Turf Club is hosting a race day on Sunday for the Busselton Cup Day. Get down to the races in style and enjoy a jam-packed day of racing. With live entertainment, bars and food galore, it is sure to be a great day out.

7. On the big screen


The holiday period is always a great time to catch a new release movie. Anchorman 2 and The Dream Team open at Grand Cinemas Bunbury on Thursday. For session times and ticket information, go to www.grandcinemas.com.au.

8. Holiday activities


Unleashed will be running a variety of exciting and interactive activities this week and throughout the summer including sailing, a visit to Penguin Island, a big day out at Xscape to the Cape Fun Park and abseiling and mid-rope challenges at Camp Mornington. 9. Sunday session


Head to Noovoh Beachfront Dining from 4pm to enjoy the latest in their Summer Sunday Session series. This week features Kim Wainwright, who is performing a stripped back solo show comprising acoustic guitar and vocal, embellished with acoustic stomp box and occasional harmonica. With four decades of guitar playing under his belt, Wainwright’s sound is rich, fluid and full.

10. Car club show


Bunbury Car Club host another fantastic night of racing at Bunbury Speedway on Saturday with All Star Juniors set to rock the track. Drivers meet at 5pm with racing from 6pm.
