Kasey set to rock Quindanning
Crowd favourite and country music royalty Kasey Chambers will rock into the Quindanning Inne next month as part of her national Bittersweet Tour.
After a brief hiatus, a jovial Chambers said she was itching to get back on tour and showcase her new album Bittersweet, which was nominated for six Country Music Awards.
“I will do a bunch of songs from this new album, but I’ll go back and play songs from the Captain and Barricades and Brick Walls and everything up until now,” she said.
“I still love playing those old ones.
“I never like to go out and play a new album — that’s too many lyrics to learn.”
It will be the second time Chambers has played at the venue she said she fell in love with during her first visit last year.
“My dad had been raving about a gig he played there for so long and I hadn’t played there before and he said ‘you have to go and play there’,” she said.
“I love that lounge roomy vibe … it feels like people are just hanging out together having a few drinks and jamming.
“At first I went to shut my dad up, but now I love it so much I want to come back.”
Chambers said fans would be happy with Bittersweet, which remains true to her country roots.
“This album is more of a different approach than new style or genre,” she said.
“I just let songs come to life, but we had a new producer and new band so we went to Byron Bay and I’d never worked in that studio before.
“It was just an exciting moment to step outside the box … I’m so used to working with people I know really well or am blood related to, so it was a bit of a leap of faith (but) I could not be happier with how it turned out.”
Chambers will be joined by Blue Shaddy on February 7.
