There was plenty of beauty to behold last weekend at the Miss Goldfields Pageant.

Held on the extensive balcony of the Kalgoorlie Hotel in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder CBD, young women from across the region gathered to gracefully compete for four prestigious titles.

Ranging from the two-year-old toddlers to adults, the women of the Goldfields competed in a range of style categories from daywear, swimwear and evening wear.

It was not all style however, with each contestant also subjected to range of questions from the judges on varying difficulties, depending on their age.

At the end of the day Libby Carter of Esperance took out the competition's most prestigious title of Miss Goldfields.

Catching up with the _Kalgoorlie Miner _after her win, the newly crowned Miss Goldfields said she had been shocked but extremely pleased to take home the title.

Not resting on her laurels however, Ms Carter quickly departed Kalgoorlie-Boulder to compete in a Country Championships for a Surf Life Saving competition in Perth.

Doing the Goldfields proud once again Ms Carter came away with three gold medals, two for swimming and one for boards.

Looking to the future the new Miss Goldfields said she wanted to act as role model for young women especially considering the number of young women competing in the pageant on Saturday.

Pageant organiser Bridget Jones said she had been impressed by the quality of this year's contestants both on and off the runway.

"This year's contestants were so organised for the pageants, they had read their notes and prepared themselves accordingly," she said.

Ms Jones said the whole point of the Miss Goldfields competition was to change what she saw as lack of positive interaction between people.

"The pageant itself is about building confidence for the contestants," she said.

"We don't actually boost each other up enough and actually give praise just for being you."

Other contestant winners included Mini Miss Winner Ruby Binder, Miss Teen Amanda Styles and Miss Peoples Choice Tayah Perkins.
