Etro makes silk scarf the show

The silk scarf was the leitmotif of the Etro show presented on Friday.

Starting from the fashionable and feminine accessory, Etro developed a whole collection for spring-summer 2011.

Folding the scarf into origami figures, the fashion house turned it into a fashion invitation, a handkerchief wrap-around skirt, a caftan top or a tunic dress.

Paisley was the preferred pattern for simply-cut daytime dresses as well as flowing chiffon gowns.

The Etro palette was based on neutral tones such as sand, cord and khaki.

The new Etro silhouette was soft on top with a hint of a flowing skirt and marked by a slightly above-the-waist leather belt.

Fabrics tended to be natural ranging from linen to gauze and jute.

Chiffon was used for the more sophisticated styles.

Ethnic gold chokers, tribal bracelets, paisley patterned clutch bags, studded platform sandals and funky Holly Hobby hats completed the folksy yet urban look.
