Jack Thompson in town for WASA

Jack Thompson will be the star guest at WA film's night of nights next month.

The Australian screen legend, right, will fly into Perth to attend the 25th annual WA Screen Awards at the Astor Theatre in Mt Lawley on August 2.

Other guests include Nelson Woss (Red Dog), Tony Martin (Wildside, The Straits), Damian de Montemas (The Secret Life of Us, Underbelly, star of WASA-nominated film Blame) and Rachael Blake (Lantana, Sleeping Beauty).

Thompson, star of Sunday Too Far Away, Breaker Morant and The Man from Snowy River, has strong links to the local acting community. Son Bill is a third-year student at the WA Academy of Performing Arts.
