Selfie links teen girls to robbery

Two teens suspected of robbing a hamburger restaurant in Sweden have been incriminated by a selfie on their own mobile phone.

The selfie - a picture taken of oneself - shows two people posing while dressed in balaclavas, with one of them holding a knife.

The Local news website in Sweden says the girls, who are cousins, are suspected of robbing a hamburger store in Halmstad, southern Sweden, in late March. During the robbery, the thieves had a large kitchen knife that they used to threaten the staff at the restaurant.

The robbers got away with 2420 kronor (about $350) but were traced by police dogs back to an apartment where police arrested them and seized the phone.

The seized pictures will be used as evidence against the 17-year-old older teen, as will DNA traces taken from her balaclava.
