Million-dollar TV goes on sale

A 600 kg, 152-inch television priced at nearly one milliondollars has gone on sale at high-end British retailer Harrods.

The enormous exhibit is part of the store’s new technology department that includes exclusive and outrageously decadent tech merchandise from retailers such as BlackBerry, Fujifilm and Loewe.

The television set – manufactured by Panasonic – boast of a 4K2K technology that allows it to have four times as many pixels as a conventional high definition TV set.

Technology website Tecca reports the massive TV set is the size of nine 50-inch sets stacked in a three by three grid and comes with a price tag of $958,000.

It is expected to be sold for commercial applications such as airports and theme parks however Harrods anticipates it will also be appealing to the same customers who purchase its range of limited edition Swarovski-encrusted BlackBerry smartphones.
