A mother has been charged after allegedly posing with her teenaged daughter for a topless photo.

The photo, which showed the two in a spa bath covering parts of their breasts with their hands, was posted with image sharing app SnapChat.

“The issue here is the fact the daughter was 14 and the mother was clearly present and involved when the photo was taken,” County Prosecutor Tim Lohmar told KMOV.

After being shared with SnapChat the photo quickly circulated around two local high schools.

“It certainly appeared that the picture was posed and it certainly had some sexual overtones,” said Lohmar.

The Wentzville mother was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment, KMOV reported. Her face and name were concealed to protect her teenage daughter.

“I wasn’t posing I was getting out of the tub,” the mother told reporters.

She US station News 4 the outdoor hot tub in question, saying it was her other teen daughter who took the photo and she never imagined it would get out.

“I was aware the photo was taken, and I told her at that second, please delete that photo,” she said.

The prosecutor argued the woman should have known better. “This was a mother who made a very poor choice, I don’t think she had any intention that this would blow up the way it did, but it did and she only has her poor judgment to blame for that,” said Lohmar.

The woman now faces the possibility of probation or up to a year in jail.
