Drugs found in Joel Madden's home

Drugs have allegedly been found at the Australian home of reality TV star and musician Joel Madden.

Police confirmed to 7News they were called to The Darling Hotel in the Star Complex at about 10:30pm on Sunday night.

It's believed cleaners had uncovered a quantity of marijuana at about 6:30pm.

7News understands that protocol required police to be called, but they were contacted four hours later.

A search warrant was conducted and officers seized what police have described as a small amount of plant matter believed to be cannabis.

According to 7News reporter Robert Ovadia, Madden was present during the search and no charges have been laid at this time.

He has been asked to leave The Star casino complex after an internal investigation.

The Nine Network was unaware of the allegations but were looking into it.
