Man arrested after police find underground bunker full of cannabis
Police have arrested a man after they found his secret underground bunker full of cannabis plants in Adelaide.
Just before 8am on Friday June 30, detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch raided a Yatala Vale home, allegedly locating a hydroponic cannabis crop in a buried shipping container under a shed.
Photos released by the police show the manhole in the ground and a room of cannabis plants.
Police also located two further grow rooms, uncovering a total of 30 cannabis plants on the premises along with two prescribed firearms.
A 57-year-old man from Yatala Vale was arrested and charged with cultivating cannabis, trafficking a controlled drug and possessing prescribed firearms without a licence.
He was also charged with theft of electricity after it was found power for the drug crop had been diverted around the electricity meter.
Detective Inspector Scott Fitzgerald from the Crime Gangs Task Force said police believe the man has links to a number of motorcycle gangs.
"Investigators believe the arrested man has links to a number of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs, reinforcing the association of bikies with illicit drug trafficking and the unlawful possession of firearms."
