Man arrested as motel stand-off with police ends

A 28-year-old man has been taken into custody following an alleged stand-off with police at an Adelaide motel.

Police patrols were called to the motel just after 2.30am on Thursday, following reports of a man causing damage to the motel.

“The agitated man moved several times between the unit and the roof, and threw several motel room items from the balcony unit towards police,” a police spokesperson said.

The ‘high risk incident’ came to an end just after 6.30am and a man was arrested.

He has been taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for a mental health assessment.

Some motel residents were evacuated from neighbouring rooms during the incident but there were no reported injuries.

Marion Road has been reopened to all traffic.
