Escaped 'unicorn' leads police on a three-hour chase
Once upon a time in rural California, a ‘unicorn’ led police on a three-hour chase.
But the unicorn was a phony pony in disguise - the pet of five-year-old Tatum Boos.
Juliet is a professional unicorn impersonator for children's parties and photographs, but on Wednesday she escaped.
The white pony outfitted with a unicorn horn for a kids’ birthday party led California Highway Patrol officers on a three-hour chase as it darted in and out of traffic on a busy roadway.
The girl’s mother Sandra Boos and the police chased the runaway pony through orchards and roads of California.
"The calls were coming in as a unicorn running around out there on the roadway," said California Highway Patrol’s Josh McConnell.
The mother said the wildest part of the fairy tale was the reaction of some bystanders, which stopped her in her tracks.
"I heard crazy things like, 'They are real!’ and 'I didn’t know unicorns were real,’“ Ms Boos, of Fresno, California, told ABC News.
"I would just stop running and say, 'They’re not.’”
Little Tatum recalled the ordeal, saying: "She got afraid, and she runned away."
The escape ended when a neighbour with a horse lured the timid runaway out of hiding.
In a fairytale ending, the little girl and her unicorn is now living happily ever after.
