Police in standoff with 'armed' man holed up in home

An emergency situation in Mount Isa has been resolved after police were in a standoff with a man claiming to be armed for over two hours.

The man was threatening himself and police inside his home and called police to the scene, Queensland Police said.

The call was made at 12.45am on Wednesday, with authorities closing off Webb Street and negotiating with the man.

The situation was peacefully resolved and the declaration was revoked at 3.50am.

The man has been taken to hospital and investigations are continuing.
