Queensland tradesman finds huge python in toilet
A Queensland tradesman got the fright of his life when he discovered a huge carpet python coiled up in a toilet.
The three-metre long python was discovered in a downstairs toilet in a property in Mount Stewart, Townsville, on Friday morning.
After making the terrifying discovery, tradesmen working at the property decided to call in snake catcher Elliot Budd.
“(The python) thought it found the perfect place to cool down,” Mr Budd said when he posted a photo of the snake to the Townsville Snake Catchers Facebook page.
When the experienced snake wrangler lent in to touch the python, it quickly slithered away.
“He decided to be difficult and went down the toilet through the u-bend, so we had to remove the toilet to get him out.”
When the tradesmen lifted the toilet up, Mr Budd was able to get a better hold on the snake and pull it out.
Mr Budd released the reptile in an isolated spot in nearby bush land.
The snake catcher told the Daily Mail that the carpet python had probably been seeking refuge from the recent bout of hot weather.
“It is very dry out here so he was probably just looking for a drink,” Mr Budd said.
“Around this time of year there isn’t a lot of water around and the snake needs water to shed.”
In bad news for those that are terrified of snakes, this isn’t an isolated incident.
Another Townsville snake catcher pulled a 2.3 metre snake out of a toilet in Kelso on Thursday.
The large coastal carpet python was found wrapped up inside a toilet cistern by a shocked resident whose loo had been playing up.
The snake reportedly made its way into the bathroom through the ceiling after it pushed a vent out of the way.
Mr Budd warned that Queensland residents may see more snakes out and about in the coming weeks as it is mating season.
This is far from the first time a snake catcher has been called out to deal with a slithery creature that has made it's way onto a property.
