Melb murder accused fronts court

A man accused of murdering a man during a fight at a Melbourne apartment has appeared briefly in court.

Con Steven Karras is charged with murdering 43-year-old Bernard Goetz at an Ashwood unit.

Police were called to the home in Melbourne's southeast around 6.30pm on Thursday following reports of an altercation between the two men.

Karras, 46, of Ashwood was arrested outside the apartment and charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody during a brief hearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday.

He will face a filing hearing in the same court on Wednesday.
