WA man charged over stroke assault

A West Australian man has been charged after a man he allegedly assaulted suffered a stroke that left him paralysed on the right side of his body.

Police say the 49-year-old victim was waiting for a bus at the Morley Bus Port about 6.30pm on January 31 when he was assaulted by the 46-year-old Rivervale man.

The victim sustained minor injuries but suffered a stroke two and a half weeks later.

Doctors have said the stroke was a result of damage done to an artery during the assault.

The man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.
