Alleged drive-by shooter extradited to NSW

A man charged with attempted murder over an alleged drive-by shooting at a home in Sydney's west with eight children inside has been extradited to NSW to face court.

The man, 22, was arrested in Melbourne's west on Tuesday, flown back to NSW on Wednesday afternoon and charged with shooting with intent to murder, police said.

It is alleged he shot from a car at an 18-year-old man, who was walking down a residential street at Granville on the evening of July 1.

"The shot missed the man and instead struck the window of a nearby home," police said.

"Two adults and eight children inside the home were not hurt."

The 22-year-old will remain in custody before fronting Sydney's Central Local Court on Thursday.

"The unlawful use of guns will not be tolerated in our community," Detective Inspector Neil Hallinan said.
