Car smashes into Adelaide home

A couple has escaped injury after a sedan leaving the car park of an Adelaide hotel crashed through a fence into the rear of their home.

The driver and her passenger were taken to hospital for observation after receiving minor injuries.

Police say the 54-year-old driver was leaving the Morphett Arms Hotel car park late on Sunday night when the sedan crashed through a rear fence.

It then crashed into the back of the Glengowrie home unit, dislodging bricks in a rear wall and coming to rest in an outside spa.

The husband and wife from the unit were lucky to escape injury, saying they were in the room just moments earlier.

The damage bill is expected to be more than $100,000.

Blood samples from the driver and her 52-year-old passenger were taken at the hospital.
