Police threaten arrests over East West rally

East West Link protesters have created a human blockade as tensions again rise over the controversial road project.

Officers were called in to remove protesters blockading three entrances to Linking Melbourne Authority.

The group linked arms outside the Glen Waverley office to prevent workers from gaining access to the building.

Scuffles broke out as police moved in to break the picket and allow access to some of the workers.

The authority is responsible for managing major road projects, including the East West Link.


Defiant protesters have vowed to continue their fight to prevent the road project from going ahead before the next election.
