Woman suffers broken nose in sex attack

A woman was left with a broken nose after she was bashed and sexually assaulted during a violent attack in Melbourne's east.

The 33-year-old victim had just got off a bus on the corner of Mt Dandenong and Norton roads, Croydon, at around 4.15pm, when she was confronted by a man in a red Sedan.

Police have been told he struck up a conversation with the woman before asking her to show him her breasts.

The victim was forced into the car by the culprit who threatened her saying he was armed with a knife and a gun.

The victim was punched in the face and sexually assaulted numerous times while inside the car, police said.

The offender then drove to Jumping Creek Road Reserve where he parked the vehicle and sexually assaulted the woman again.

He then ordered the victim out of the car and drove off with her mobile phone. The terrified woman ran to the main road and flagged down a passer by.

She was taken to hospital where she was treated for a broken nose.

The offender is described as having brown or auburn coloured hair and was wearing a camouflaged baseball cap and dark sunglasses.

It is also believed he had a distinctive outline of a star shaped tattoo on his left hand between his thumb and index finger.

Police also received information of a man fitting a similar description in a red car seen acting suspiciously and driving at speed in the area earlier that afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
