Husband spends first night alone as murder hunt continues

The husband of murdered woman Joan Canino Ryther has spent his first night alone in the house the couple shared as the hunt for her killer continues.

Cory Ryther arrived home late yesterday, accompanied by police, who emerged with a computer hard drive a short time later.

Ms Ryther's partially clothed body was found on Wednesday morning on the front lawn of a Leichhardt Street home.

Police believe the 27-year-old was raped before she was bashed to death.

Her body was found a kilometre from the Mayes Street home she shared with her husband and just metres from the McDonald's restaurant where she worked.

She was due to work a night shift at the Woodridge business on Tuesday night, but never arrived.

Detective Superintendent David Hutchinson confirmed today police had found the person who had moved Ms Ryther's McDonald's cap in Leichhardt St, and hung it on a fence.

Detectives are interested in speaking to man in a yellow shirt who reportedly knocked on the door of a Logan house on Tuesday night. A witness has told police he was sobbing.

They also they want to hear from anyone who was in Leichhardt Street on Tuesday night and the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Ms Ryther, who was pregnant, was wearing long dark trousers and a green or blue long-sleeved coat over her uniform.

Her husband reported her missing around midnight.

Police confirmed Mr Ryther was at work around 9pm and police are not treating him as a suspect.

"We have no suspects at the moment," Supt. Hutchinson said.

Police yesterday removed crime scene tape from the couple's home.

Police are also gathering CCTV footage from businesses and homes nearby the brutal murder scene.

Police don't know whether Ms Ryther knew her attacker or if it was a random incident.

They don't know if she was murdered at her house or somewhere else. No one saw her leaving her house.

More than 40 police and forensic officers are investigating the murder.
