Pedestrian dies after being hit by car

A man has died after being hit by a car while walking along a footpath at Ingle Farm, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.

Police are investigating whether the driver of the vehicle suffered a medical episode moments before the collision.

They say Ford Falcon was travelling along Montague Rd near the Ingle Farm Shopping Centre just before 11am when it clipped a truck and mounted the curb, hitting the pedestrian.

The 42-year-old man died at the scene before paramedics arrived.

7News understands the driver of the car may have been suffering a medical condition at the time of the crash.

“It looked like he was asleep like he’s fallen asleep and gone off the road,” one witness told 7News.

The 65-year-old driver of the vehicle stopped about 700 metres down the road and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The driver at this stage is in hospital, he’s receiving treatment, he’s co-operated with police up to date but he will be interviewed further,” Sgt Mark Orford said.
