Gunman's chilling words after 'killing ex-girlfriend, her family and new boyfriend'

Following the most heinous of alleged crimes, a jealous former boyfriend who is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, her new partner and her family early on Sunday morning headed straight for the local police station.

Arriving at Kitzbuhel station in the Austrian skiing town, the 25-year-old delivered a chilling utterance to officers at the front desk.

“I have just killed five people,” the man, identified by police as Andreas, told officers as he placed a gun and knife on the counter.

Police have identified the victims as Nadine H, Andreas’ 19-year-old former partner, her parents Rupert H, 59, and Andrea H, 51, Nadine’s 25-year-old brother Kevin H and Nadine’s boyfriend Florian Janny – a 24-year-old ice hockey player in Austria.

Authorities say Andreas met Nadine and Florian at a bar in a chance encounter on Saturday where an argument ensued, local publication Kurier reported.

It is believed Andreas and Nadine separated two months ago.

He returned to her family home later that night where he spoke with Rupert at the front door. He was informed his and Nadine’s relationship was over and was asked to leave.

Agreeing to do so, he left but with the intention of returning.

"He went home and got his brother's pistol," Walter Pupp, head of the Tyrol State Office for Criminal Investigation said.

On his return, Rupert answered the door again. Police allege Andreas shot him dead before entering the home and shooting Andrea and Kevin.

He then went in search for Nadine and Florian who were staying in an adjacent granny flat. With the door locked, he clambered over the balcony and allegedly shot the couple dead while they slept.

Pupp described Andreas as “calm” and “quiet” individual with only minor criminal offences to his name. Police said he wasn’t affected by alcohol at the time of the attack.

Tributes for Mr Janny, who is a contracted as a goalkeeper for EHC Black Wings team in Linz, have begun to appear on social media.

"We are all shocked and deeply saddened," said Kitzbühel's mayor Klaus Winkler.

Tryol governor Gunther Platter called the incident a “terrible tragedy”.
