Monty Python star's teary Bafta award win

Monty Python star Terry Jones has made his first public appearance since he revealed he is battling a severe type of dementia that is affecting his speech.

The actor, writer, comedian, director and author took to the stage at the Bafta awards, as he was recognised for his years of work.

Sadly, the 74-year-old fell silent in his acceptance speech, with his emotional son stepping in to speak on his behalf.

“Thank you to everyone I know it’s a great honour for Dad to win this award,” Terry’s son Bill Jones said.

“Just the struggles we’re having at the moment, it’s hard but we’re so proud of him (voice breaks).”

Terry Jones had made his way onto the stage clutching Bill’s hand, but when he tried to speak, the devastating effects of the cruel disease kicked in.

Still, Jones was given a standing ovation for his work in the industry which spanned almost 50 years.
