'Don't you die': Recording reveals hero cop's dramatic life saving efforts
Ohio State Highway Patrol officer Eric Devers is the man you want on the scene if your life is in danger.
The trooper was honoured in the US this week for his efforts to save the life of a truck driver in April. Dashcam footage of Trooper Devers rushing to the driver’s side was released on Facebook on Thursday and has already been seen five million times.
The footage shows the trooper sprinting down an embankment after arriving on the scene to discover the driver still strapped into his seat.
According to the Ohio highway patrol, the man’s eyes soon rolled back and he stopped breathing.
Audio recorded of the incident reveals Trooper Devers frantically battling to get the man breathing again.
“Don’t you die. Don’t you die on me. Come on!” He shouts.
“Keep breathing.”
His efforts prove successful and the stricken truckie begins breathing again, shortly before ambulance crews arrive on the scene, and Trooper Devers walks back to his car pulling off his gloves, looking every bit the modern day action hero.
The officer was awarded with a Certificate of Recognition on Thursday while the truck driver was taken to hospital and made a full recovery.
