CAB more accessible at CBD location

More people are expected to use the services of Bunbury's Citizens Advice Bureau following its relocation to the central business district.

On Thursday, the organisation officially unveiled its new offices within the Bunbury Senior Citizens Centre on Stirling Street.

The Bunbury office used to be located on the outskirts of the CBD on Oakley Street.

After a morning tea to celebrate the relocation, the organisation's WA chief executive officer Kathryn Lawrence told the _Bunbury Herald _that the move was a positive step.

"The best part of the move is the location is so central," she said.

"So the actual the building we are in is so accessible and, when you walk in, it feels very warm."

WA's 11 Citizens Advice Bureau offices are run mostly by volunteers, who provide help to members of their communities.

The organisation can provide legal advice and mediations but often refers its clients to other services.

Mrs Lawrence said it was important the organisation was relevant in an age when information could be found on the internet.

It was still important to many people, however, to be able to seek information from another person, she said.

Citizens Advice Bureau was forced to restructure in 2014 after a two-year period of instability and conflict over its future.

The organisation conducted a strategic review of the way it delivered its services.
