Pre-primary children are learning early that a heart-felt message is one of the best Mother's Day gifts any mum could wish for.

That they are in their own wobbly letters and first attempts at spelling make them even more precious.

Asked to think about what they loved most about their mums during a writing lesson at Middle Swan Primary School, the five-year-olds knew exactly what made their mothers special.

"I love my mum bcoth (because) she max (makes) me cacx (cakes)," Brriy Eckersley wrote.

Paige Grant said: "I luv my mum becos she givs me cudls (cuddles)."

Denzyl Trappit wanted his mum to know that he loved her for letting him play on his Playstation 4. Kade Winitana loves his mum taking him to the "puc" (park).

Principal Frances Coventry said as well as getting "priceless" hand-written messages, the mums had a special pampering session at school yesterday.

The students brushed their mothers' hair, painted their finger nails and put make-up on them.
