Andy Bull to wow MPAC crowds

His two self-written, self-performed, self-produced singles achieved most-played status on national youth radio station triple j in 2013.

Now, Sydney performer Andy Bull will wow Mandurah crowds with his mix of chords and despair, grinding analogue synthesisers, stuttering drums and surprisingly dark, but singable, hooks.

Recently signed to US Republic Records, Bull shot onto the scene 18 months ago with Keep on Running and Baby I am Nobody Now.

Bull, who was named the most-blogged-about artist in the world by blog aggregator Hype Machine, said the inspiration for his angst-ridden, but beautiful, tunes came from the opposing forces that were in everybody.

He said his two music videos, directed by Nelson Laves, aimed to portray the other-worldly feelings experienced in dreams.

"The feeling of the videos comes from dreams where things are familiar but yet not right, vaguely frustrated and uneasy - it's not a nightmare, but potentially," Bull said.

Brisbane-based Club Sport will open the show at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on Sunday, with Bull taking the stage at 7.30pm.
