Man shot in Coolongup home invastion

Neighbours near the house where a man was shot in a home invasion early this morning said they heard "blood curdling" screams.

They say the screams came from children in the house.

A 31-year-old man is in hospital after the early morning attack.

Police are at the scene of the attack in Lynda Crescent, Coolongup.

Several people were involved in the home invasion about 2am. They fled in a car.

The man was at home with his family.

He was taken to Royl Perth Hospital

Neighbours reported hearing screams and loud bangs from the home.

It is understood the man was fending off the intruders.

A couple and three young children have lived in the home for less than 12 months.

A nearby couple said they awoke to "blood curdling screams" from the children in the house.

"We woke up and heard screams so we called police," they said.
