Immigration looks into Yongah Hill protest

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has been made aware of a protest at Yongah Hill Detention Centre.

A department spokeswoman said service providers at the centre were this morning engaging with a person involved in protest activities at the centre.

The nature and extent of the protest is not known.

Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre is around 90km east of Perth and 5km out of Northam.

It houses asylum seekers who try to enter the State’s borders.
