Sizzling start to big day

Chris Matson, Andre Collett, Graeme Maxwell and Terry Torr sported Aussie caps and hats at last year’s Binningup Australia Day breakfast.

HUNDREDS of people will gather in the Tom Pearson Pavilion on the Brunswick Oval for the traditional Australia Day breakfast next Monday.

Brunswick Lions, their partners and community volunteers will have the bacon sizzling and eggs bubbling from 7.30am onwards when the first families wander in for the traditional hearty start to the day.

Many former Brunswick residents will return to their home town for the long weekend and enjoy the opportunity to catch up with friends and family.

Official proceedings will begin at 8am with the raising of the flag and the singing of Advance Australia Fair before a community-minded resident will be presented with the Premier's Australia Day Active Citizen Award.

Organisers ask residents to register for catering purposes at Eziway, the post office, Brunswick Agencies or the Caltex service station in Brunswick.

Entry to the generous breakfast, including juice and fresh fruit, will be by donation.
